46% of Romanian home owners say that they have improved their thermal insulation, and 43% that they have reduced the energy consumption of their devices, and 8% answered that they have installed solar panels, in the last 3 years, the research results show , handed over to the press.
According to a study carried out by Ipsos for ING in 7 countries, the majority of homeowners in Romania (83% of those surveyed) state that they have taken measures to improve the energy efficiency of their homes in the last 3 years, especially by improving thermal insulation and reducing consumption of devices, similar to aggregated responses across all 7 countries covered (overall average). Only 8% of Romanian homeowners said they had installed solar panels, less than half of the overall average of 19%.
For homeowners who took energy efficiency measures, saving energy costs was the main reason for doing so (for 84% in Romania vs 78% overall average), while sustainability considerations were the main reason for 13% of the Romanians asked, compared to 20% at the level of the entire study (general average).
“Awareness plays an essential role in the process of society’s transition to a green economy, and the study shows us that the majority of Romanians surveyed (6 out of 10) believe that their actions as consumers can have an impact on sustainability. It is a positive signal, given that the options for purchasing and financing energy efficient solutions are becoming more advantageous and more diverse. At ING, for example, we support the more sustainable choices of individual customers, through mortgage and personal loans (eco-loans) with low interest for the purchase of homes or environmentally friendly products: solar and photovoltaic panels, electric cars or hybrid plug -in”, says Iulia Rusu, Retail Business Strategy Manager, ING Bank Romania, in a statement
The study also reveals that the 3 most important criteria in determining the price that Romanians who want to buy a home are willing to pay are, in order of relevance: proximity to facilities (e.g. shops, schools, medical services, etc. ), energy efficiency and proximity to means of transport.
