Share
Petrom, the leader of the fuel distribution market in Romania, increased fuel prices today, for the third time since the beginning of April
The Petrom station on Virtuții Street in Bucharest, monitored by us this year, displays on April 5, 2024 a price of standard gasoline of 7.30 lei/liter, while the price of standard diesel is 7.51 lei/liter .
Therefore, the oil company increased today the price of gasoline and diesel by four pennies per liter, after an increase that took place last Friday, April 5, and which was also four pennies per liter for each fuel. This after, the day before, Petrom had operated an identical price increase, also of four pennies per liter for both gasoline and diesel.
So, now there is the third fuel price increase since April, and we can see that the price of diesel has once again jumped above the threshold of 7.5 lei per liter.
Fuels will become more expensive once again in the middle of the year, because this year the excise duty on fuels increases in two stages, on January 1st and July 1st. The increase from July 1, caused exclusively by the increase in the excise duty (including the related VAT), will be 43 money per liter of gasoline and about 40 money per liter of diesel.
Fuel price increases take place in the context of the upward trend of oil prices. Thus, at the time of writing this news, the price of Brent oil, a reference for Europe, was at 90.64 dollars per barrel.
Petrom is the leader in the retail oil products distribution market in Romania, with a network of 555 distribution stations, of which 393 are Petrom and 162 are OMV.
