Hidroelectrica, the largest electricity producer in Romania, put out to tender the works for the completion of the Nehoiașu 2 plant, part of the Siriu-Surduc hydrotechnical development in Buzău county.
“Purchase and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment at CHE (hydroelectric plant – ed.) Nehoiașu II, expansion of the 110 kV transformer station” is the name of the contract put out to tender by Hidroelectrica in the Electronic Public Procurement System.
The value of this contract is 178 million lei, about 35 million euros.
The new plant, an older project of Hidroelectrica, refers to the expansion of the Surduc-Siriu Hydropower Plant, which is located on the territory of Buzau, Vrancea and Covasna counties and includes the development of the Buzau River as well as the development of the Bâsca Mare and Basca Mica rivers.
The project “involves mainly design activities (drafting of technical documentation for mechanical equipment, electrical equipment/object), manufacturing/procurement, testing, packaging, transport, delivery as well as installation of newly executed equipment and installations, tests and checks, both in the factory as well as in the location, commissioning and personal training”, says the company in the tender documentation.
The new power plant would be equipped with a 55 MW Francis type hydro unit and, once completed, would produce around 150 GWh of electricity annually – the tender notice mentions a minimum 20 MW turbine.
The value of the contract is so small because most of the hydropower development works are already done. Thus, according to Hidroelectrica data, the project would have already been executed in 85% ownership.
“The power plant building is fully completed, the remaining works are concreting at the turbine level, concreting at the generator and guide level, architectural works inside the building, electrical, thermal and sanitary installation works, transformation station execution, installation of related hydromechanical and electrical equipment hydroelectric power station”, according to Hidroelectrica data.
The company is waiting for offers from those interested in this project until May 30. The contract will be awarded following an open tender.
The work would be completed within 44 months.
Hidroelectrica is the largest electricity producer in Romania, with an installed capacity of about 6,400 MW in 188 hydro plants, to which is added the Crucea wind farm.
