The second large photovoltaic park project developed by PPC in Arad, taken over with the acquisition of Enel’s businesses in Romania, is to obtain the establishment authorization this week. The first one got it last week. Thus, at the end of next year, PPC should have operational over 600 MWp in photovoltaics in Arad.

“Draft decision and report regarding the granting of the Establishment Authorization requested by the company SOLAS ELECTRICITY SRL for the realization of the new energy capacity of Centrala Electrică Photovoltaica (CEF) Nădab 1”.

This is one of the projects that will be approved in the meeting of the Regulation Committee of the Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), which will take place on June 19. Projects on the list generally get approval.

When ANRE issues the establishment authorization, the project developer must prove that he has the financing for the construction of the energy capacity, so most likely this project will be one of those that will be completed and produce electricity.

Solas Electricity is owned by PPC Renewables SRL, and was taken over by the Greeks from Enel Green Power, along with the acquisition of all Enel businesses in Romania. The company is developing a large-scale photovoltaic project in Arad county, Nădab 1, of 363 MW. The project received a technical approval for connection (ATR) on August 5, 2022, and on August 4, 2023 (so the last day of validity of the ATR) the connection contract was also signed. The estimated date of commissioning is December 31, 2025.

It is the second large PPC project on the photovoltaic area in Arad county that is entering final approval at ANRE this month. Thus, last week, the Regulatory Committee granted the establishment authorization requested by the DARA SOLAR INVESTMENT SRL company for the construction of the Photovoltaic Nădab 2 power plant. The company is also controlled by PPC Renewables and is developing a 302 MW photovoltaic park. And this park would be completed at the end of next year.

The renewable energy production capacities of the PPC group will reach a level of almost 2 GW in Romania, as a result of the increase in investments to unprecedented levels, according to the plan announced by PPC in January. Thus, in the next three years, renewable capacities with a total capacity of 1.3 GW will be put into operation, more than double the level reached in the last 15 years by the companies taken over in Romania, the company said at the time. At the beginning of the year, PPC had a portfolio of 600 MW installed in renewables in Romania.
