ROMANIA: The works on section 4 of the Sibiu – Pitesti highway have reached 45%

The Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, announced that the works on section 4 of the Sibiu – Pitesti highway, which also includes a double tunnel over one kilometer long, have reached 45%.

“I want to congratulate the builders, they are some of the best builders in Romania at the moment. Not only do they do their job (…), but they also advance the deadlines, as Boita did, on lot 1 (…) On this section we are somewhere close to 45%, the most difficult work is related to the two tunnels, we have passed 50% on the two tunnels in length, they are 1.3 kilometers, we are over 700 meters, the other around 650 meters,” Grindeanu said on Friday at Curtea de Argeş, where he checked the status of works on lot 4.

He said that he is “extremely satisfied” with the way work is being done on lot 4, but also on lot 5 between Pitesti and Curtea de Argeş.

“On Pitesti – Curtea de Argeş, you should know that there is asphalt on more than 90% of the route. We have three or four critical points, those bridges, crossings where work is being done at the moment and where the mobilization is very good. But, I repeat, along the entire length of more than 30 kilometers, from Pitesti to Curtea de Argeş, on this lot 5 asphalt is currently laid on almost 90%, if not even more than 90%”, said the minister.

Sorin Grindeanu expressed his belief that both lots could be put into use before the contractual terms, which are 2025 for lot 5 and 2027 for lot 4.
