ROMANIA: Investment of 107 million lei in the modernization of Runway 2 and the rapid clearance of aircraft at “Henri Coandă” Airport

Runway 2 and the rapid clearance lanes of the “Henri Coandă” International Airport are operational again, after the completion of the modernization works worth 107 million lei, the Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) announced.

According to the quoted source, the investment, which targeted large-scale works on the five taxiways related to the take-off-landing Runway 08L-26R, is part of CNAB’s strategy to increase the operational capacity of “Henri Coandă” Airport and to optimize the conditions of aircraft operation.

“Once the works are completed, higher code aircraft will be able to operate without restrictions on these surfaces (code E, e.g. Boeing B777, Airbus A330). Also, the runways at Runway 2 have been modernized, and the beaconing has been done with LED technology”, the press release states.
