R.Power, an independent power producer (IPP) and one of the fastest growing companies in the European large-scale solar market, announced the signing of contracts for the general execution of a portfolio of 23 MWp photovoltaic parks.
The new projects, located in central and eastern Romania, are in the preparation phase for construction. Completion of construction is planned for the second quarter of 2025. The parks will be directly connected to the medium voltage grid.
The projects will be built by the Polish company Nomad Electric and the Romanian company Waldervar, specialized in the design, construction and operation of renewable energy projects, and one of the largest general contractors of photovoltaic plants in South-East Europe.
The addition of 23 MWp to the portfolio is another step in the development of R.Power in Europe. By the end of 2025, the company plans to have a portfolio of photovoltaic projects in Romania with a capacity of 100 MWp. This is yet another project that brings R.Power closer to the strategic goal of having 1GW in operation that the company plans to achieve next year.
“Romania is one of the countries with the most dynamic development in solar projects in southeastern Europe. By the end of 2023, the total installed capacity from solar sources in this country has reached 2.9 GW. However, solar energy development plans aim to increase solar generation capacity to over 8 GW by 2030,” the company says.
In the spring, R.Power announced that it had reached a significant moment in its expansion strategy by securing a portfolio of over 200 MWp in Romania with connection approvals, with an additional 1 GWp in the portfolio for further development.
R.Power is a leading independent solar power producer in Poland, expanding its operations in Romania, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Germany. R.Power’s activities cover the entire value chain of the solar energy sector, including PV plant development, construction (Engineering, Procurement & Construction), power plant maintenance (Operations & Maintenance) and renewable energy production (Independent Power Producer). The company is currently developing a portfolio of over 26 GWp of PV and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) assets, offering PPA power sales. In addition to photovoltaic farms, R.Power, through its subsidiary Quanta Energy, offers renewable energy supply solutions for industrial customers, companies and institutions – from energy audits and technical and legal analyses, to the process of obtaining authorizations, financing and investment construction.
