ROMANIA: The North Section of the Mai 1 Metro Line 6 – Otopeni Airport received construction authorization – Metrorex

Metrorex S.A. obtained the Construction Authorization for Lot 1.2 of the Metro Highway 6, marking a significant step in the advancement of the Project “Highway 6. 1 Mai – Henri Coandă International Airport – Otopeni”, informs the company.
This segment, called the North Section, will connect Bucharest to the main air gateway, the Henri Coandă – Otopeni International Airport, thus ensuring a vital connection within the European transport network (TEN-T), underlines the cited source.
The work is carried out by the Gulermak Agir Sanayi Insaat Ve Taahhut A.S.-Somet SA Association, based on the contract for the design and execution of resistance structure works signed with Metrorex S.A. for this batch, which includes a 7.6 km route between Tokyo Stations and Otopeni Airport.
At this moment, the Association Gulermak Agir Sanayi Insaat Ve Taahhut A.S.-Somet SA is preparing the Technical Execution Project necessary for issuing the order to start the execution of the works.
The northern segment, Lot 1.2, extends over a distance of 7.6 kilometers including the stations Washington, Paris, Brussels, Otopeni, Ion I.C. Brătianu and Otopeni Airport. This route will also include six interstation segments: Tokyo – Washington, Washington – Paris, Paris – Brussels, Brussels – Otopeni, Otopeni – Ion I.C. Brătianu, and Ion I.C. Brătianu – Otopeni Airport.
Highway 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni, The connection of the metro network with Henri Coandă International Airport – Otopeni is one of public utility, of national interest, the design and execution of the North section being financed from the state budget and external reimbursable funds – JICA external credit ( Japan International Cooperation Agency).
