ROMANIA: The Competition Council authorized the takeover of three companies by OMV Petrom

The Competition Council authorized the transaction by which OMV Petrom S.A. took over the companies Intertrans Karla SRL, Bridgeconstruct SRL and ATS Energy SA.

According to a press release from the competition authority, the OMV Petrom Group is active, in Romania, along the entire energy value chain: from the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, to the refining and distribution of fuels and, further, to the generation of electricity, as well as the sale of natural gas and electricity.

Intertrans Karla SRL, Bridgeconstruct SRL and ATS Energy SA are active in the field of electricity production.

Following the analysis, the Competition Council found that this operation does not raise significant obstacles to effective competition on the Romanian market or on a substantial part of it and that there are no serious doubts regarding its compatibility with a normal competitive environment.

The decision will be published on the website of the national competition authority, after the removal of confidential information.
