ROMANIA: The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, signed another 26 contracts for the installation of photovoltaic panels at the level of town halls

The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, signed another 26 contracts for the installation of photovoltaic panels at the level of town halls: “The Ministry of Energy offers all the support to local communities to develop new renewable energy production capacities for self-consumption. Thus, public administrations will become more energy efficient and will have a cleaner environment.”

Today, September 30, 2024, at the Ministry of Energy, 26 financing contracts were signed within the call from the Modernization Fund: Program – key 1: Renewable energy sources and energy storage.

The signed projects aim to support investments in new electricity production capacities from renewable sources for local communities, the beneficiaries being public institutions. The total value of the financed projects is 70,211,804.67 lei (14,111,790.95 euros), the total value of financing from the Fund for modernization is 66,479,691.88 lei (13,361,677.83 euros), and the total capacity installed is 10.31 MW.

“Since the beginning of this program, we have managed to finance more than 194 contracts with several town halls, universities and public institutions, with a total value of more than 634 million lei and a total installed capacity of 90.91 MW. Through these investments, the beneficiaries will develop photovoltaic, wind or microhydropower parks for self-consumption. Once implemented, the projects will cover up to 79% of public institutions’ own consumption, from public lighting to school utilities. These contracts will create new jobs and reduce energy costs at the local level, encouraging a cleaner environment”, said the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Ioan Burduja.

The list of beneficiaries of the contracts signed today: Commune Ciucea (Cluj county); Buteni commune (Arad county); Siliștea commune (Brăila county); Vorona Commune (Botoșani County); Dumbrava commune (Timiș county); Podul Iloaei city (Iași county); Moșnița Nouă commune (Timiș county); Lozna commune (Sălaj county); Mihail Kogălniceanu commune (Tulcea county); Fărcașa commune (Maramureș county); Șotânga commune (Dâmbăvița county); Bîrca commune (Dolj county); Unguriu commune (Buzău county); Izvoarele commune (Prahova county); Costești commune (Vâlcea county); The city of Moldova Nouă (Craș-Severin county); Hida commune (Sălaj county); Hodod commune (Satu Mare county); Țețchea commune (Bihor county); Bocsig commune (Arad county); Nușeni commune (Bistrita-Năsăud county); Florești commune (Cluj county); Filipești commune (Bacău county); Dobrin commune (Sălaj county); Buhuși commune (Bacău county); Stolniceni-Prăjescu commune (Iasi county).

Also through this program, on Friday, on 27.09.2024, the financing contract was signed to support investments in new production capacities of electricity produced from renewable sources for self-consumption with the Municipality of Iași, Iași County. The total value of the project was 49.7 million lei and a total installed power of 9.0 MW.

The Ministry of Energy remains committed to supporting local communities to become energy efficient and thereby reduce the pressure on electricity bills.
