EU: Commissioner Simson to discuss winter preparedness, competitiveness and next steps on REPowerEU at Energy Council in Luxembourg

Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson will be in Luxembourg tomorrow to participate in the Energy Council. With the beginning of the heating season, the Commissioner will inform the EU Ministers about the EU’s energy preparedness ahead of the winter. They will also exchange about the energy situation in Ukraine with the country’s Minister for Energy, German Galushchenko.

Discussions will also focus on the competitiveness of the energy sector based on the recent Draghi report, as well as energy prices. In addition, the Commissioner will take stock of the implementation of the Fit for 55 legislation, the progress of the Energy Union as recently outlined in the 2024 Report, and look at the next steps to fully implement the REPowerEU Plan with the Ministers.
