The Romanian subsidiary of Wien Energy obtained the technical approval for the connection for a photovoltaic park project that it wants to develop in Alba county.
Viena Energy Forța Naturală obtained, at the end of August, the technical approval for reordering (ATR) for a 90 MW photovoltaic park, the Blaj photovoltaic power plant, in Alba county. The new generating capacity would be put into operation at the end of 2026. The photovoltaic plant would be connected, through a new station, to the 200 kV Cluj Florești-Alba Iulia line of Transelectrica.
Obtaining the ATR is the first step in the long road of a renewable energy project, so it is not yet known whether this project will be completed and produce electricity.
Viena Energy Forța Naturală is controlled by Wien Energy, the largest electricity supplier in Austria, which, according to its own data, has a portfolio of 2 million household customers and around 450,000 commercial customers.
The company bought, in 2008, 31 microhydropower plants put up for sale by Hidroelectrica, with a total installed capacity of 20.6 MW. Along with the energy production activity, Viena Energy Forța Naturală is also a supplier of electricity in Romania.
According to the latest balance sheet data, the company recorded a net profit of 33 million lei in 2023, up from 20 million in the previous year.
