The Mass Mintia power plant, an investment worth 1.4 billion euros, located in the Veţel commune of Hunedoara county, has received the construction permit from the local public administration, Liberal senator Călin Marian, former prefect of the county, announced on Friday, Agerpres reports.

“We are taking sure steps on the path to development in the energy field, and recent achievements confirm the commitments assumed. An eloquent example in this regard is the cogeneration plant in Mintia, a project that I actively supported and supported through all legal levers during my mandate as prefect of Hunedoara county. After completing all administrative stages, the project received the construction permit, which means that the investment has entered a straight line. The execution period is 36 months from the start of the works,” the PNL senator noted on his Facebook page.

According to him, the investment is an important economic achievement and a “strategic step for the energy future of Romania”.

The new state-of-the-art power plant will be the largest and most modern in Europe and will have a capacity of 1,700 MW. In addition, it will significantly contribute to ensuring Romania’s energy independence, but also to creating over 600 jobs, Senator Călin Marian noted.

On December 18, the Government declared the investment project “MASS Mintia Power Plant” as a project of national importance in the energy sector.

The costs related to the construction and commissioning will be financed by the private investor MASS GLOBAL ENERGY ROM SRL.
