Renalfa IPP, a Vienna-based company that develops and invests in renewable energy, has acquired a 258 MWac (megawatts alternating current) photovoltaic (PV) project in Teleorman, Romania, according to a press release.
The Teleorman project is scheduled to be commercially operational in 2027. It will contribute to Romania’s decarbonization goals and the country’s energy security, the release said.
In addition to the photovoltaic capacity, Renalfa IPP plans to integrate 1,000 MWh of battery energy storage (BESS) assets as part of the project’s future development.
This energy storage capacity will enhance the stability of electricity grids, optimize the use of renewable energy and support the transition to a resilient and sustainable energy system.
“We are excited to complete the acquisition of this landmark project in Romania,” said Dr. Nikola Antonov, spokesperson for Renalfa IPP in the release. “This project is proof of our commitment to leading the energy transition in the CEE region and to providing innovative renewable energy solutions that meet the challenges of the future.”
“The project underlines Renalfa IPP’s dedication to promoting regional economic growth, creating green jobs and contributing to a cleaner future. By leveraging its expertise and commitment to innovation, Renalfa IPP continues to position itself as a key player in the CEE energy market,” the statement added.
