ROMANIA: A German company is about to obtain authorization to establish a 46 MW photovoltaic park with storage in Dobrogea

“Draft decision and report on the granting of the Establishment Authorization requested by the company WHITE GATE INDUSTRIAL PARK SRL for the construction of the new energy capacity Mixed Power Plant (Photovoltaic + Storage Facility) Poarta Albă”.

This is one of the decisions to be taken by the ANRE Regulatory Committee in its meeting on February 4.

At the time when ANRE issues the establishment authorization, the project developer must prove that it has the financing for the construction of the energy capacity, so most likely this project will be one of those that will be completed and produce electricity.

White Gate Industrial Park, initially a Romanian company owned by several local entrepreneurs, is developing a 46 MW photovoltaic project. Last summer, information emerged that the photovoltaic project was purchased by the German company BayWa r.e

“Romania has immense potential in the field of solar energy and it is vital to capitalize on these resources to ensure a cleaner and more sustainable future. The acquisition of this photovoltaic park by BayWa r.e. marks an important step in consolidating the renewable energy infrastructure in Romania. We are happy to have had the opportunity to work alongside the BayWa r.e team in this transaction and thank them for their trust,” said Ioana Roman, partner and coordinator of the Real Estate department at Filip & Company, the law firm that assisted BayWa r.e Romania in the process of acquiring the photovoltaic park.

BayWa r.e. is part of the BayWa Group, experts in trade, logistics, agriculture, energy and construction. Founded in Munich in 1923, it currently has a turnover of EUR 24 billion and continues to strive to overcome the greatest challenges facing society,” the presentation on the company’s website states. Present in 3,000 locations in over 50 countries, in agriculture, energy and construction materials, BayWa R.E has almost 21,000 employees.

The German group also has a project in Romania. In late April 2024, Talgat Solar SRL obtained the technical connection approval (ATR) for a large-scale photovoltaic park of 245 MW, which would be located in Giurgiu County, Centrala Electrica Fotovoltraică Tălgat, according to Transelectrica data. The park, which has a rather distant completion date, namely the end of 2028, would be connected to a new 220 kV station in Călugăreni. Talgat Solar SRL is 100% owned by BayWa R.E Solar Projects Gmbh.

The company has two significant shareholders: Bayerische Raiffeisen-Beteiligungs from Germany and Raiffeisen Agrar Invest from Austria, and has been active in agriculture in Romania for a long time.
