ROMANIA: A single bid for the construction of the Gădălin Suceava power line, which would close the 400 kV ring in the north of the country

Share

Transelectrica received only one bid by the submission deadline for the construction of the 400 kV Suceava-Gădălin line, one of the most important investments in the national electricity grid.

The bid was submitted by a Romanian consortium formed by Electromontaj (consortium leader) and Emfor and ELM Electromontaj Cluj, based on data from the electronic public procurement system.
The value of the contract is approximately 690 million lei, and the tender was launched by Transelectrica last fall. It concerns the construction of a new 400 kV single-circuit overhead power line (OPL), in the north-northeast of the country, between Gădălin and Suceava, with a total length of approximately 260 km, which crosses the territories of three counties: Cluj, Bistrița Năsăud and Suceava, and 40 administrative-territorial units

We quote from the tender announcement:

The 400 kV OPL s.c. Gădălin – Suceava will be made up of several distinct sections, as follows:

– at the entrance to the 400 kV Gădălin station, a section on the existing double-circuit line common with the 400 kV Gădălin – Roșiori OPL (approximately 4.3 km, 16 poles);

– a new section of the single-circuit line on Rodelta poles (approximately 98.4 km, 337 poles);

– a new section of single-circuit line on “Y” poles when crossing the mountains (approximately 124.8 km, 536 poles);

– a new section of single-circuit line on Rodelta poles (approximately 29.5 km, 89 poles);

– a new section of double-circuit line shared with the 400 kV Roman – Suceava OHL (approximately 1.0 km, 4 poles);

– at the entrance to the Suceava station, a section on the existing double-circuit line shared with the 400 kV Roman-Suceava OHL (approximately 2 km, 6 poles).

The construction of the 400 kV s.c. Gădălin – Suceava OHL also includes the construction of the terminal interconnection cells to the SEN, namely: – the extension of the 400kV Gădălin station with the Suceava line cell and – the extension of the 400kV Suceava station with the Gădălin line cell.

The work should be completed in 5 years and 9 months, and is one of the most important projects for the development of the electricity transmission network in Romania. First of all, because, once this line is built, the much-discussed “400 kV ring” of Romania in the north-northeast area of the country will be completed, with benefits in terms of supply security and the national energy system in general. Second, for a better assurance of the electricity supply of the Republic of Moldova, given that the tender procedure for the execution of the 400 kV Suceava – Bălți line is approaching its end.

The Electromontaj Group is controlled by the Romanian businessman Dragoș Bâlteanu and has also executed many works for Transelectrica. Electromontaj is a construction company in the electricity sector, founded in 1949, with projects all over the world, and is, according to its own description, the leader on the Romanian market. The company designs, builds, transforms and maintains the infrastructure for the transport and distribution of electricity and has its own production units in Bucharest (Galvanized Pole Factory) and in Câmpina (Clamps and Fittings Factory). Electromontaj owns its own Testing Station for Electric Poles in Bucharest, one of the largest in the world. The Electromontaj Group, which has over 2,000 employees, includes the companies Emfor, Iproeb, Electrotehnica and Hidroconstrucția.
