Cluj transforms waste into energy through a molecular disintegration station

Share

The execution project of the first molecular disintegration treatment facility for the energy recovery of municipal waste in Cluj County is progressing at a rapid pace, being closer to completion, announces the Cluj County Council.

“Transforming waste into energy, extremely close to becoming a reality in Cluj. The construction works of the molecular disintegration station are progressing by about 80%”, states the Cluj County Council.

After the completion of the construction phase of the hall that will house the molecular disintegration station, namely after April 15, the equipment related to the facility will be delivered and put into operation.

“We requested an exemplary mobilization, a context in which, by the second half of May at the latest, we want to carry out the first tests and trials of this truly revolutionary station. I am happy to announce to the people of Cluj that, starting this year, we will process the first garbage, and the waste of the people of Cluj will be transformed into a real source of energy”, says Alin Tișe, president of the Cluj County Council.

The future waste disintegration station, fully automated, will significantly reduce the quantities of waste resulting from the sorting of recyclables and mechanical-biological treatment. Also, as a result of the energy recovery, the County Council estimates that the green energy produced over the course of a year will be able to cover the consumption of the administrative forum, the Cluj Arena stadium and the other subordinate institutions.

The investment in the construction, installation and commissioning of this facility, with a processing capacity of approx. 25,000 tons of residual waste/year, has a value of over 60 million lei, the financing being provided from the own funds of the Cluj County Council.
