Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja said that 2,500 MW would be installed in Romania this year, making it the best year for Romania in this regard.
“Yesterday, the synchronization of the Midia power plant began, 80 MW, a delayed project that we managed to unblock, and we are counting on this capacity. In addition, we have the investment from Iernut (430 MW – ed.), plus what we have on investment 1 of the PNRR, 1,400 MW (renewable sources capacities ed.). Adding all these MW, plus the storage area, where we reached 140 MW, a power that we will double this year, we should reach 2,500 new MW this year. We will double last year’s performance”, said Burduja, at an event organized by Profit.ro.
“It is good for the adequacy of the system and we have the chance to have lower bills. Romanians need to know that every MW installed means lower bills,” Burduja said.
According to ANRE data published in January, based on information from network operators, 77 new renewable energy capacities with a total capacity of 950 MW were put into operation last year. In addition, a coal-fired unit at the Rovinari thermal power plant, whose refurbishment has been completed, and a 54 MW unit at Hidroelectrica’s Stejaru hydroelectric power plant.
