The Borzești photovoltaic park, a project that was part of the Petrom-Renovatio transaction last year, can now sell electricity on the market.
“License for the commercial exploitation of electricity production capacities of the company BORZESTI POWER SRL”. This is one of the decisions adopted by the ANRE Regulatory Committee in its last meeting, and the license means that the producer can register to trade electricity on the market.
According to data from Termene.ro, Borzești Power is 100% owned by Electrocentrale Borzești which, in turn, is owned 50%-50% by RNV Infrastructure, a company controlled by the Romanian group Renovatio, and Petrom.
“OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe, has completed the acquisition of 50% of the shares of Electrocentrale Borzești from RNV Infrastructure. It owns renewable energy projects with a capacity of approximately 1,000 MW, of which 950 MW wind and 50 MW photovoltaic. The acquisition was announced at the beginning of this year. The wind projects will be developed, built and operated in partnership with RNV Infrastructure. The photovoltaic project is in production tests,” Petrom announced last fall.
In fact, the commercial exploitation license now obtained is for the 50 MW photovoltaic park that is located on the site of the former Borzești thermoelectric power plant, which has not been producing for a long time and was bought by Renovatio.
At the time of writing, the total installed capacity in photovoltaic parks amounts to 2,307 MW, according to ANRE data.
